Be Still My Soul

Be still, my soul; the Lord is on your side;
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
Leave to your God to order and provide;
In every change he faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul; your best, your heavenly Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul; your God will undertake
To guide the future as He has the past.
Your hope, your confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul; the waves and wind still know
His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.

Be still, my soul; though dearest friends depart
And all is darkened in the vale of tears;
Then you will better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe your sorrows and your fears.
Be still, my soul; your Jesus can repay
From His own fullness all He takes away.

Be still, my soul; the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul; when change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

  2. Lynne,
    You told me about your blog this morning at the post office and I just read each entry from the beginning. I have to tell you I think you have done a fantastic job. I've laughed and cried my way through the past hour! Just wanted you to know that you can add me to the list of praying people for both you and Mike. Thank you for keeping us updated and I am so impressed with your ability to take a trial that none of us would ever want to face and turn it into a blessing, a witness and a testimony to the love and strength of our God.

  3. Lynne, We are on the same wavelength with Be Still My Soul. A 40 ish homeschool friend (mother of 6 kids one of whom is 2 yrs) had a stroke in October and I massage her arms and legs one morning a week. I take the words to that hymn with me to the hospital. Sometimes l sing while I massage sometimes I read the words or pray them as I serve her. XXO Kristine
