For the crafty. For the curious. Here it is.
Introducing, the hub's summer project (one of them), copied from a photo in Fine Woodworking.
MY NEW DESK.
From the front, it is a glorious, sturdy (made for me, you know) oak desk with 10 drawers. It features dark wood inlays on the top and on the legs. Its writing surface is 33" from the floor. A normal desk, for a normal height person, stands 29". So, of course, the hub is working on a custom built desk chair for his long legged wife.
Here you can see some of the inlay detail. If you look closely on the legs, you can also see it. Creating the inlays presented the artist with some interesting challenges that he had to solve. Solve them he did.
That is absolutely beautiful. Nice work Uncle Mike!ReplyDelete
Pictures don't do it justice. Mike's craftsmanship on this is A+.ReplyDelete
I am so jealous! Gorgeous, smooth, perfect. And great for your legs. Saw the pic of you and Maryann. Your waist is level with her chin! xxoo ~TerriReplyDelete
Nice job, Michael! And, lucky you, Lynne!ReplyDelete
